Description

In memory of Ben Hurst and also my Grandmother (whom loved seeing my art)

Before the ramble, most of this was done in Muro, with the bubble effect and stars done in Photoshop (because someone turned the router off last night >_>)

SatAM, while not my favorite of the Sonic cartoons was still one I was highly fond of. In part for its darker and continuous storyline and also because it was the first time Sonic was given a slightly more human edge to his character. Sure he was still cool, but he wasn't above emotion, crying when he had to leave his Uncle Chuck behind, worrying about Sally's well being and being a big brother to Tails. (AoStH touched on the Tails angle a little when it wasn't being totally insane)

Then you have the Sonic & Sally aspect of the whole thing. Sally is the ying to SatAM Sonic's yang, and was always written as such in the series. Sure she's bossy and a bit moody sometimes, but she's one of the few people willing to call Sonic out when he's being stupid or reckless. She keeps Sonic a bit more grounded, while Sonic makes sure Sally can occasionally shrug off her responsibilities and relax.

I guess the Power Stones worked so well in Doomsday because they trusted each other so much, even when they feared the worst would happen. I love when Sally quips in awe "This must be what power rings feel like". It's a simple line but it's powerful because she suddenly becomes aware how Sonic must feel with all that power, thus gaining a better understanding of him in that very moment.

In any case it was this consideration to character development and storyline that in part drove me towards art. Plus my grandmothers encouragement and the amount she did in her life. I only hope I can do just as much myself in life!
